I would like to say a big thank you to the Officers and Committee for allowing me the honour of judging Great Danes. As always at this show we were treated to a large, ring giving the exhibits the opportunity to stretch out and move to their full potential.

A huge thank you to my two stewards, who despite a busy day were extremely efficient and kept the ring running smoothly and to the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to go over their beautiful Danes. It was particularly pleasing to see some promising youngsters, which bodes well for the future, and I look forward to watching their progress as they mature. There were one or two youngsters who needed time to settle, but we need to be patient sometimes and with considerate handling they all performed well and hopefully enjoyed their day. I was surprised however to see several bad mouths, and I hope that this isn’t something that will become a concern.

I was delighted with my major winners and enjoyed watching them perform well across the respective groups with my BPIB going on to be placed Working Puppy Group 2.

Class 2690 SBD (2 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 6999 TASKER, Ms Hayley & MOLLOY, Mr David Newarthdane Mars 2 year old black with masculine head showing kind expression. Good reach of clean strong neck into level topline, which he held on the move. Balanced angulation front and rear with good bone throughout. Moved and handled well.

2nd: 6981 MCGOWAN, Mr G Kinnegans Rebel Ridge Fawn with black mask. Well-proportioned head held high on strong neck. Well laid-back shoulder with good return of upper arm and well filled chest.Sufficient depth of chest and well arched loins. A little raw at this stage but that is to be expected for his age and time is on his side. Moved ok

Class 2691 MPD (3 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 6958 CUBITT, Mrs M Zefather's Wreck It Ralph For Zebeldane well-marked Brindle dog with so much to like about him. Masculine head with good length of foreface and dark mask. Strong clean neck of good length into well laid-back shoulders and level topline. Good return of upper arm well filled deep chest and ribs well set back. Balanced rear angulation with correct turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Good strong bone and tight feet throughout. Moved with reach and drive. Quality young male who I look forward to seeing progress.

2nd: 6968 HAYTER, Mr & Mrs S Stevarah Manhattan Magic well marked Mantle, with masculine head of good proportions on long clean neck. Good balanced angulation front and rear with heavy flat bone. Deep well filled chest and well bodied throughout. Correct topline which he held on the move. He is a substantial boy who will take time to mature but everything is in the right place and I look forward to watching his journey. Moved well and at one with his handler.

Good length of strong neck into level topline and correct tailset. Balanced angulation front and rear. Well-muscled with good bone throughout. Moved around the ring with reach and drive.

2nd: 6940 BAKER, Miss Libby Ella & BAKER, Mrs Hilary Kinnegans Bodyguard For Preveli (ikc) Another quality young fawn male who just needs time to mature and he has plenty of this ahead of him. His dark mask and chiselled head contributing to his alert expression. He presents such a pleasing picture in profile with balanced angulation front and rear. Shown in excellent condition with good muscle tone throughout. Unlucky to come across 1st today and i am sure has an exciting journey ahead.

3rd: 6974 INGRAM, Lady J Dainmajik Veni Vici

Class 2694 PGD (7 Entries) Abs: 2 1st: 6998 SPACKMAN, Mrs Caroline Novavida Norseman Warrior (a.i.) Brindle male with masculine head with good length and breadth. Good neck into correctly laid shoulders. Chest deep and well filled with good spring of well-set back ribs and strong tucked loin. Good tailset and level topline which he held on the move. Would benefit from a little more strength of second thigh but this is to be expected at his age and hopefully should come with time. Moved around the ring with ease.

2nd: 6960 DONNELLY, Mr & Mrs James & Lynne Primus Spokesman substantial fawn male. Pleasing head of good length and correct proportions. Good neck into correctly laid shoulders and deep chest. Good rear angulation with correct turn of stifle and well let down hocks. He was heavier in substance and bone than first and needs a little more time to finish. I look forward to seeing him again as he matures. Moved ok

Class 2695 LD (6 Entries) Abs: 0 1st: 6990 MUNRO, Mrs Georgia Roucandane Stolen Kisses Masculine upstanding fawn dog who is full of dash and dare and really draws the eye. Broad muzzle with good length of foreface and alert expression. Strong clean neck of good length into well laid-back shoulders. Chest deep and filled with a good spring of well-set back ribs. Loins strong, topline firm and correctly set tail. Well-muscled hindquarters with plenty of second thigh. Good turn of stifle, hocks well let down and cat like fee. Good straight flat bone throughout with good condition and substance. Great to see the bond with his owner as he moved around the ring with ease. DCC

Brisket reaching elbows with moderately sprung ribs, good rise of loin and firm topline. Balanced angulation front and rear. Moved around the ring with drive.

Correct head with good length to broad muzzle. Dark eye helping his kind expression. Correct neck into good lay of shoulder, balanced return of upper arm and correct strong flat bone. Chest deep and well filled with a good spring of rib. Well bodied throughout with strong loin, firm topline and correct tailset. Well angulated rear with good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved around the ring with reach and drive. RDCC

2nd: 6956 CRANFIELD, Miss J Ch Zefather's Ralph Lauren JW ShCEx OSW 4-year-old fawn boy with dark mask and pleasing expression. Masculine head of good proportions with good length to foreface, broad muzzle and square lip. Strong neck into well laid-back shoulder and good return of upper arm. Well filled deep chest with elbows close to body. Well angulated rear with good bone and substance throughout. Moved well, but for me just missing that spark on the day to take him further.

2nd: 6954 COPE, Ms Richard And Michelle Fonblanque Fiona Harlequin bitch of stronger type to first. Pleasing head with good expression. Well filled front with brisket to elbows and good tuck of loin. Balanced angulation front rear with good bone throughout. Moved well

3rd: 6996 REED, Ms Julia D Wildflower Patch At Minezara

Class 2699 MPB (6 Entries) Abs: 0  This was an enjoyable class to judge with some very promising youngsters, who I am sure will swap places many times through their show careers.

1st: 6975 INGRAM, Lady J Fontanarossa Makkari Avec Dainmajik (naf) This young fawn girl with dark mask, girl took my eye the moment she entered the ring. So balanced with a such a pleasing profile. Feminine head of good proportions and kind expression. Clean neck of good length into correct lay of shoulder, firm topline and correct croup. Adequate return of upper arm and correct flat straight bone. Good depth and width of chest with well set back ribs and good tuck of loin. Hindquarters with good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. She was a little unsettled at times on the stand, but I believe this may have been her first show and with sympathetic handling she soon settled. Moved around the ring with reach and drive, so balanced in all directions for her age. BPIB I was delighted to watch her go on to take Working Puppy Group 2

2nd: 6942 BARTLEY, Mrs E & BARTLEY, Mr M Zefathers Freaky Friday 8 months old brindle bitch who really lives up to her name and thoroughly enjoyed herself. Feminine head on long clean neck. Balanced angulation front and rear Well filled chest with moderate spring of rib and correct loin. The big ring today gave her plenty of time and considerate handling, she soon settled and moved around the ring with ease.

3rd: 6946 BLISS, Mrs A Stagbatch Storm Amy Class 2700 PB (5 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: 6969 HAYTER, Mr & Mrs S Stevarah Liberty Staton young Mantle girl with such appeal. Feminine head of good length and correct planes throughout. Good reach of neck, free from throatiness. Correct topline and good tailset. Balanced front angulation with good return of upper arm and elbows held close to body. Moderately filled chest with good depth and strong loins. Rear with good angles just need to strengthen as she matures. Another youngster with so much promise which I have no doubt she will fulfil. Handled to perfection and moved around the ring with great reach and drive.

2nd: 6965 GOUGH, Mr Gary & DA SILVA, Mr Osvaldo Roucandane Last Dance Of Joopstar Brindle girl with the most pretty of feminine heads and appealing expression. Good fill of chest and moderate balanced angulation front and rear with correct bone throughout. Another that needs time to mature but I am sure she will have an exciting show career ahead of her. Moved very well once settled.

Class 2701 JB (8 Entries) Abs: 1 1st: 6976 JACQUES & KIRBY, Mr Michael & Philip Jacqukir Love Me Again (a.i.) JW Fawn bitch of such quality and shown in fabulous condition. In profile she presents such a complete balanced picture with nothing in exaggeration. Head of good length with black close-fitting muzzle, dark eye and correctly placed medium ears helping her kind but alert expression. Neck strong, clean and of moderate length. Correct angulation front and rear with good bone and tight feet throughout. Chest deep with filled front and ribs moderately sprung and well set back. Loins strong, topline firm which she held as she powered flowed around the ring with ease. Moved well from all directions. This girl surely has a very exciting future ahead of her. BCC & BOB

Feminine bitch of just 12 months who is just starting to mature into herself. Head of good length, square muzzle with clean fitting lips and dark mask. Long neck, clean and of good strength into moderately laid-back shoulder. Topline firm into correct tailset. Chest deep with brisket to elbows, moderate spring of ribs and good strength to loin. Balanced rear angulation with well defined muscle. Giving a lot away in age to the winner today. Moved well and used the big ring to her advantage.

Class 2702 PGB (9 Entries) Abs: 3 1st: 6993 PENDLETON-WATKINS, Ms Nia Goldania's Princess Etain JW Elegant fawn bitch. Feminine, chiselled head with dark mask and of good length. Her neck is clean and strong, flowing into well placed shoulders and filled chest. Moderate return of upper arm with strong flat bone to legs and correct feet. Chest deep with ribs well sprung and set back. front legs are excellently shaped and end in tight, compact feet. Rear well-muscled with balanced angulation. Moved around the ring well, holding her topline throughout.

2nd: 6939 ALLISON, Mrs Helen & LIDDELL, Mrs Anne Smooriken Far Aboots 16-month-old fawn bitch with pleasing head of good proportions. Level plains with well-defined stop and square, clean fitting lips held on clean long neck. Balanced angulation front and rear with good bone and tight feet. Well bodied for her age with good chest and strong loins. Giving a lot away today on maturity but I look forward to seeing her progress. Moved well with a free and active gait.

Forechest well filled and deep, would prefer a little more return of upper arm to complete the picture. Strong hindquarters with correct turn of stifle well-muscled second thigh and let down hocks. Well handles as she moved around the ring with drive.

2nd: 6994 POCOCK, Mrs L & Miss T Tamzdane Oooey Gooey Cake JW Strikingly marked harlequin girl of good type and balance. Head of good length with parallel planes and well-defined stop. Medium sized ears set high on skull adding to her look of dash and dare. Neck long and of good strength topline firm both standing and on the move. Balanced angulation front and rear with good bone and tight feet. A slightly cleaner tuck of loin would help complete the picture. Great to see her at one with her handler as she moved around the ring with ease.
