Pennine Great Dane club Champ Show

Candice Dyson
I wish to thank both the Pennine GDC committee and my wonderful stewards for the day.
At present we have more depth of quality in our females over males. I did not find any behavioural issues that concern me and was pleased to see kind considerate handling being displayed in the ring on the most part.
There is a concern that folk need to work on (in My Opinion). Feet and legs I feel I had everything today, Cow hock, Pinning, Carpel rotation, hip drop the list goes on, and the worrying thing is all of these are throughout the age criteria. It makes for a poor picture on the stand let alone on the move.
BPD. (2/0) My Baby Puppies I will not knit pick on the head/shoulders etc as at this age they are in full development mode and as we all know they change from one day to the next. 1.Hugill’s Shalrace I Made You Look. Mantle with well covered body, good turn of stifle. Being a baby pup was very excited with his day out so was a little excentric on the move. 2.Bollons Shalrace Riding Shotgun. Harli Brother to 1. Again, another that is covered in body. He at this moment has better feet than 1. Was a little erratic on the move.BPB. (2/1) 1/Hugill’s Shalrace a Million Dreams. Harli girl with good markings. A little apprehensive coming into the ring, but to be expected with a quick change over between babies, it can unnerve them. When she settled, she did move around the ring freely but controlled. Kind expression, good feet and covered body. Best Baby Puppy.PD (2/0) 1.Wright & Cranfield’s Zafather’s Two Faces with Irisusdane. Fawn boy. Tall boy not the heaviest of frames. Well-muscled throughout. Beautiful length of foreface with same width throughout head, well set ears used well. Arched neck of suitable length. Good shoulders, not overdone in chest but with width. Tight feet all round. Covered throughout body. Correct bend of stifle. Moved very sound and steady with good foot placement. BPD & BPIS 2. Jaques & Kirby Jacqukir Take Me Home. Fawn. Heavier male all round than one, which can give the illusion of less hight of which is not the case. Did feel he lacked muscle refinement of 1 which in turn made him feel less mature throughout. Good head very square with dark mask. Covered front, good length to body. Moved ok.JD ( 5/2) 1.Simpson’s Renescents Bewitched. Black with a gleaming coat. Very square and well-balanced male. Nice ratio of foreface and back skull without being overdone. Long reach of neck. Shoulders ok. Fore chest not overdone with good width. Nice flat bone on good tight feet. Covered throughout body with muscle. Good croup, straight hocks. Moved ok. 2. Lawton & Farquharson’s Garsak Sir Winslow at Thronbrae. Fawn. Heavier boy than 1. Head with parallel plains, good eye. Muscle throughout could be tighter, however as he is heavier this should take time. Ample fore chest, well angulated shoulders, Tight feet, Showed good drive at the rear. 3.Tempest. Adoreadane Yellowstone . ND (1/1)YD (1/0) 1.McLellan’s Anadain Dead Ringer for Love. Fawn with dark mask. Head of good proportions, square drop of lip, Ears well set and used well. Muscled rear made for easy movement.LD (4/1) 1.Munro’s Roucandane Stolen Kisses. Fawn with black mask. This boy I have called ‘Very Honest’. He’s not flashy, he does not stand and say look at me all the time but he has everything in the right place. Just maturing into himself he presents a good length to his foreface matching in width to his backskull, when he uses his ears they place well. Nice muscled will defined length of neck. Chest not overdone in any way presenting a clean picture. Strong legs all round. Steady topline with a good drop to croup. Good turn of stifle. Moved steady and positive. RDCC 2.McGuinness. I have found as with some markings on other non-solid colours that they can be deceiving to the eye so hand on (not all over!) is a must. Head is proportionate throughout, with parallel plain’s, good length and defined cheek. His ear set is good although not one to use his ears all the time. He has a swan like neck with good strength, not overdone in fore chest. His shoulders are well angulated. Flat bone and good feet. His thorax has plenty of room and extends to a good length in flank. Well-muscled back enables him to hold his topline well but also gives width. He has nice length of loin, great muscle to his rear. He moves well driving from the rear without overstep yet with a light bounce action and smooth. Today he loved the outdoors using the ring to his advantage. DCC and BIS.SpOBluD (1/0) 1.
