SCOTTISH GREAT DANE CLUB CH SHOW 13 JUNE 2026

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the Scottish Great Dane Club for their very kind invitation to judge their Championship show which I took as a great honour and i was delighted with my entry. In particular I would like to thank Show Manager Sheena Booth together with Betty McDonald, my steward, who battled gale force winds which was a real trial in the context of keeping the paperwork together!

PD 2(0) 1. Hayter’s Stevarah Manhattan Magic. 9 months old, correct head proportions, broad muzzle, nice reach of neck, powerful shoulders, strong top-line, good bone, sound on the move. 2. Pycz’s Rasputin De Mumartin’s From Olympdanes. 8 month old puppy, good overall proportions but very much all over the place on the out and back at this stage.

Burns’ Kinnegans Rebel Moon for Carricktaigh (IKC). Preferred the head of 1 but another nice junior, good reach of neck, balanced overall proportions, moved with an impressive ground covering stride in profile. 3. McGlynn’s Bismarck Capera Dogs of Allours (imp CZE).

YD 1(0) 1. Donnelly’s Primus Spokesman. Good head proportions, a little unsettled with the windy conditions, elbowed out a shade on the out and back however correct bone, nice reach of neck and strong top-line. PGD 4(0) 1. Davies’ Kinnegans Tulsa King (IKC). 1st in

JD. 2. Watson-Hall’s Adoreadane Frank Senatra (IKC). Preferred the head of 1 but very well proportioned male, good bone, nice feet and pasterns, strong top-line, correct croup and tail set, easy ground covering gait. 3. Wright/Cranfield’s Zefather’s Two Faces with Irieusdane JW.

Well proportioned male, balanced head, good reach of neck, strong top-line, powerful shoulders, balanced angulation, springy ground covering gait. 2. McGuinness/Nelson-McGuinness’ Dinahtron The Omen. Lovely head proportions and a picture in profile but tended to elbow out on the out and back, however covered excellent ground in profile. 3. Hitcham’s Dainoak Tempus Vincit at Chamith.

SpVD 2(0) Two very nice special veterans both with classic heads of excellent proportions. 1. Gilbert’s Lomondane Chuffed Tae Bits. Just showed himself better on the day with balanced angulation, strong level top-line and an easy gait. 2. Young’s Lomondane Dinnae Bother ShCEx. I liked his front but he was a little slack behind on the stand but both of these veterans are a credit to the breed.

SpO Harlequin Dog 1(0) 1. Hitcham’s Dainoak Tempus Vincit at Chamith. A nice harlequin shown in excellent condition, strong masculine head and expression, good bone, nice feet and pasterns and enthusiastically handled on the day.

I preferred the head of 1 with well set ears, good reach of neck, good depth of chest, a little straight in pasterns, good shoulder, moderate behind. 2. SpO Mantle Dog 4(1) 1. Pocock’s Multi Ch. Tamzdane Empower Mint JW. Took the class on his tidier out and back movement on the day, strong masculine head, balanced angulation, a touch over square but good bone, correct pasterns and impressive on the move. 2. Tempest’s Adoreadane Yellowstone (AI) JWW LT/FIN JCH. Stands well in profile, balanced angulation, correct head, good feet and pasterns but untidy when viewed from the rear on the out and back. 3. SpO Blue Dog 1(0) 1. Ferguson’s Multi Ch. Elitedaimos Magick Mago at Chateaudain. Fair head proportions, nice reach of neck, good bone, feet and pasterns, moderate angulation fore and aft, a little off square when viewed in profile but a good ground covering gait.

OD 4(0) 1. Chappell’s Ch. Selmalda Jealous Guy (AI). I have enjoyed judging this dog in the past, he has a lovely head and expression, good reach of neck, excellent angulation, shown in excellent coat and condition, not quite at his peak when I last saw him but a wonderful example of the breed and still able to win at this level, DCC, RBIS & BOS. 2. McLellan’s Anadain Dead Ringer for Love JW. Very nice fawn, well balanced, excellent overall proportions, good bone, nice feet and pasterns but not quite as tidy on the out and back on the day, RDCC. 3. Munro’s Roucandane Stolen Kisses.

Wright/Cranfield’s Zefather’s Homeward Bound with Irieusdane. A promising brindle puppy, again correct in overall balance, accurate on the move with a light springy gait. 3. Hayter’s Stevarah My Macey’s.

JB 6(2) 1. Pocock’s Lambrini A Girl Like Me at Tamzdane. Very nice mantle bitch, excellent overall proportions, good reach of neck, powerful shoulders, strong top-line, good bone, nice feet and pasterns, absolutely sound on the move. 2. Evans’ Belarosedane Beany Babybel. Shown in full coat and carrying good condition, however this bitch is somewhat straight in pastern, was untidy on the out and back but covered good ground in profile.

Pendleton-Watkins’ Goldania’s Princess Etain JW. Lovely head and expression, good reach of neck, good top-line, covered plenty of ground in profile but ‘post-season’ affected her rear movement on the out and back. 3. Grisdale’s Vanmore Spill The Beans.

SpVB 4(1) Three lovely veterans. 1. Young’s Roucandane Summer Breeze. A lovely example of the breed, whilst greying in the muzzle still exudes all the quality required of the breed, good bone, correct pasterns, impressive on the move, BVB & BSpVIS. 2. Grant’s Lomondane Ca Canny at Eildane. Carrying additional condition but still able to cover good ground, tended to toe in a touch on the out and back. 3. Gilbert’s Lomondane Coorie Doune.

Preferred the angulation of 1 and the impressive ground covering movement, absolutely sound throughout, good bone, nice feet and pasterns, good reach of neck. 2. Tempest’s Adoreadane May West (AI). SpO Mantle Bitch 2(0) 1. Pocock’s Lambrini A Girl Like Me at Tamzdane. 1st in JB. 2. Hayter’s Damarkann Secret Dare with Stevarah. Strong female carrying plenty of condition, excellent shoulder, good turn of stifle but a touch slack in her top-line, moved well in profile but untidy on the out and back.
