Mid & West of E GDC Summer Open Show  July 28th 2019

First of all I'd like to thank the Midland and West of England Great Dane club for inviting me to judge the stakes classes. I enjoyed my day despite the weather the atmosphere was friendly and it was a well organised show.

Winner of Class A (Puppy Dog or Bitch): Santanna Dazzling Spirit at Zefather

At just 8 months this pale fawn bitch puppy was very pleasing on the eye and in excellent condition. With good pigment, dark eye and correct bite the head planes of were of good proportion. The bitch had a nice length of neck going into reasonable shoulders. Level top line, good croup, good tail set and fair angulation. Moved out well coming and going.

Winner of Class B (Post Graduate Dog or Bitch): Bourntwyn Presleys Girl by Rioco

This 2 year old fawn bitch was expressive and showed presence in the ring with a dash and dare look. Her head was beautiful with a nice length of foreface and narrow skull. The neck was of good length with well filled chest, level top line, reasonable croup, good second thigh and lovely tight cat-like paws. I would have preferred the bitch to be slightly shorter in the loin. She moved out well coming and going.

Winner of Class C (Open Dog or Bitch): Nikami The Lyrical ShCh

At nearly five years old this fawn bitch has it all in my opinion and shouldn't be overlooked. Going over her everything flowed. A good honest sound Dane. With a pleasing head and soft expression she had a good length of neck flowing into nice layed back shoulders. The topline was level with correct croup, tailset and good angulation. She moved true coming and going with drive. It was an easy decision to award best in stakes.
